Tahun ini bisa disebut sebagai tahun suram bagi dunia TI. Hanya sedikit lowongan pekerjaan yang ditawarkan perusahaan TI. Selain itu, gaji yang mereka tawarkan pun lebih rendah dibanding tahun-tahun sebelumnya.

Setidaknya inilah hasil survei dari Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) yang melibatkan 245 perusahaan di Inggris, seperti Microsoft, Cisco dan IBM.

Akibat terjangan krisis ekonomi, perusahaan-perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang teknologi memang beramai-ramai melakukan pemutusan hubungan kerja, dan bahkan menutup pabrik. Walhasil, hal ini berdampak pada karir di bidang TI.

Para lulusan TI harus berebut untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan. Selain itu mereka juga harus rela menerima gaji yang lebih rendah dibanding tahun-tahun sebelumnya, dengan penurunan sekitar 4 persen.

Facebook Bayar US$ 65 Juta Untuk Uang 'Tutup Mulut'

Kesalahan dari sebuah biro hukum membuka tabir rahasia bahwa pendiri Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg membayar US$ 65 juta sebagai uang damai untuk mengakhiri kasus terkait asal muasal Facebook.

Zuckerberg memang pernah digugat oleh dua rekannya semasa kuliah di Universitas Harvard yang bernama Cameron dan Tyler Winklevoss.

Pasalnya, Zuckerberg dituding telah menjiplak ide pembuatan Facebook dari situs jejaring ConnectU yang dibuat para penggugat. Zuckerberg berhasil lolos dari kasus tersebut melalui sebuah kesepakatan dengan ConnectU.

Detail penyelesaian kasus itu sebenarnya dirahasiakan. Namun biro hukum yang mewakili ConnectU, Quinn Emmanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges secara ceroboh menyebutkan besarnya uang yang harus dikeluarkan Facebook dalam sebuah newsletter.

Diungkap bahwa bahwa uang sejumlah US$ 65 juta itu dibayar dalam bentuk tunai dan saham. Dengan nilai perusahaan yang berada di kisaran miliaran dollar, jumlah tersebut dinilai amat kecil bagi Facebook.

Pendiri Facebook Curi Ide Teman Kuliah

Zuckerberg, pendiri situs jejaring sosial Facebook, dituduh telah mencuri ide Facebook dari temannya semasa kuliah. Benarkan demikian? Hal ini termuat dalam laporan majalah alumni Universitas Harvard, 02138 (http://www.02138mag.com/index.html).
